Benefits of Anti-Aging Hormone Replacement

in the health of Employers&Employees;

In the 3.2 million years that man has walked the earth, there has never been a better time to be alive today in this country. Before the American Revolution in the late 1770's, the average life span of man was only 25 years. At the beginning of the 1900's, the average life span had increased to 46 years. At the turn of the century an millennium in 2000, the average life span had nearly doubled to 77.

Currently, centenarians, 100-year olds, are the country's fastest growing age group. As of 2000, there were 70,000 centenarians in the US . By the year 2010, this number is expected to more than double to 160,000; and to increase to 1-4 million by 2050.

Why are Americans seemingly returning to the Biblical days of Moses and Noah who reported lived well past 100? The answer is 2-fold. One reason is the advancement of medicine to minimize the impact of disease as well as improved sanitation. At the turn of the century, during the Industrial revolution, improved sanitation reduced disease and deaths. During the WW1 and WW2 eras, the invention of antibiotics saved lives. From 1960 to 1990, the advancement of cardiac related drugs reduced deaths from heart disease by 50% and strokes by 62%. Improved imaging allowed us to catch cancer at an earlier time whereby the patient could still be treated.

Not only has the life span been increased, but the quality of life has been improved. Many ancillary health care providers are vital to enhanced quality of life. Chiropractors manipulate the spine and correct irritating misalignments that allow people and athletes to return to work earlier. Nurses provide extra care and support in the hospitals. Therapists rehabilitate our limbs. Even plays a role. What was once "sci-fi" in Star Trek is now becoming the vision of the future of medicine.

That vision of the future of medicine is alive and well in the field of Anti-Aging Medicine. The of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M), of which I am a Fellow, is the world's largest ant-aging medical community. It has grown from 12 in 1993 to over 12,000 members today. Its members consist of all the medical professions: MD's, DO's, NMD's DC's, DDS', DPM's, PHd's, and RN's.

The mission of the anti-aging movement was to advance the "science fiction" to "science fact". The basic premise of anti-aging medicine is to realize that diseases of old age are really just disorders of metabolic processes and by repairing the physiology of the "old cell", it begins to act and function at a more youthful and healthy level, thus restoring health and reversing aging. There are many hormones that help achieve this restoration. Some include testosterone, growth hormone, thyroid, DHEA, estradiol,&HCG.

What are the benefits of Anti-Aging Medicine? Let's just consider 1 hormone; HGH.
